The business plan is central part of any business. For investors it is there to provide in-depth information regarding the opportunity, for founders and team members it is to have a mutual understanding on how to proceed with the business, as well as to provide structure, determine weaknesses and gaps etc.
All the late-night, back-o'-the-envelope, romantic intensions to change the world become tangible and debatable once they're put on paper. As such, it is not the business plan in itself, but the process of constructing the document that is important.
But remember, you will only be successful because of good implementation, not good business plan!
